The offer gives T-Mobile customers unlimited SMS and low-speed data when roaming and calls at 25 cents a minute. While T-Mobile may not be capping how much data you can use while roaming overseas, you do get limited by speed throttling. The daily price is half of the rate charged by Verizon and AT&T for their daily Data Passes for use out of the country.

This press release features multimedia.

"More than one in three families planning vacations this year intend to travel internationally, and Verizon and AT&T want you to pay twice as much every day when you travel overseas - it's ridiculous!" said John Legere, T-Mobile's CEO, in a press release.

Previously, T-Mobile users could take advantage of free worldwide roaming in 140 territories around the world. Simple Global is included with T-Mobile ONE, meaning you can post and text photos, look up maps online and stay connected to loved ones when traveling overseas - worry free. T-Mobile first, with Verizon just a hair back, a bigger gap, and then AT&T and Sprint in third and fourth place. Well, you've got no choice - they decide FOR you, taking more of your money when you travel internationally.

No doubt that subscribers get unlimited data when traveling but it has a base data speed of 128 Kbps.

While you're traveling with the Simple Global plan, which is included with T-Mobile One plans, you get unlimited texting and unlimited 2G data.

T-Mobile is the last of the so-called Big Four carriers in the United States to introduce a high-speed data pass for global roaming and it comes with somewhat of a bang. T-Mobile says it will allow for a maximum of two passes to be purchased every 24 hours.

The additional 70 countries will be available starting July 22, while this new data pass will be available from August 1.

T-Mobile's performance in Ookla's testing benefited from the carrier's effort to build out its LTE network using the 600Mz spectrum.

Analysts noted that Verizon, in particular, appeared to leave its previous data crunch - the result of reintroduced unlimited plans - "far behind".
