Royal Family celebrates Royal Air Force's 100th Anniversary

Camilla Duchess of Cornwall Carole Middleton

The Queen recalled how her father was the first member of her family to qualify as an RAF pilot and served alongside the service's founder Lord Trenchard.

The flypast was a centrepiece of events celebrating the RAF's centenary, with lines of invited personnel given a prime viewing position directly outside the palace gates.

She also wore a coat by Alexander McQueen, and a hat by Sean Barrett, with Meghan choosing to wear a dress by Dior and a hat by royal milliner Stephen Jones.

THE Royal Air Force has been decisive in saving Britain's independence, democracy, and freedom, the Archbishop of Canterbury said on Tuesday.

Queen Elizabeth and senior royals watched nearly 100 aircraft, from World War Two Spitfires to the newest stealth fighter jet fly over Buckingham Palace on Tuesday in a celebration to mark the 100th anniversary of Britain's Royal Air Force.

She stuck out her tongue as she arrived at her Uncle Harry and Aunt Meghan's wedding. After their wedding May 19 at Windsor Castle, Harry and Meghan made their balcony debut together in June for the annual Trooping the Colour ceremonies marking the queen's official birthday.

Prince Charles, Prince Andrew, Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, Queen Elizabeth II, Meghan the Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry, Prince William and his wife Kate the Duchess of Cambridge, as they watch a Royal Air Force aircraft pass over Buckingham Palace in London.

The Duke of Sussex also wore his No 1 RAF uniform, with RAF Regiment shoulder flashes, in recognition of RAF Honington - the home of the RAF Regiment - and also for his role as Honorary Air Commandant of the base.

While some have interpreted Charlotte's post-christening comment as a cheeky reminder to the photographers of her status as a royal insider, I think perhaps she just wants to make sure they know not to hustle over to Clarence House for the reception. She was left the late-Victorian brooch by Lady Jardine in 1981.

Earlier, the royals and more than 2,200 people packed Westminster Abbey for a service also attended by Theresa May, defence secretary Gavin Williamson and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
