CDC says avoid this cereal after it was linked to salmonella

The cereal is the likely source of the salmonella outbreak, the CDC said. Over 70 cases had already been confirmed and linked to the cereal, and Kellogg's was in the middle of a massive recall to get the product pulled from shelves.

Food and Drug Administration officials reminded retailers that it against federal law to sell recalled food.

"Retailers can not legally offer the cereal for sale and consumers should not purchase Kellogg's Honey Smacks cereal", it wrote.

The FDA is sending out this reminder because it has learned some retailers are still selling the cereal. More information on the recall can be found on the FDA's website. The sick people are spread across 33 states.

The CDC continued its consumer advisory issued on 12 July, saying that in the event a cereal "looks like Kellogg's Honey Smacks in a container without the packaging and don't remember the brand or type, throw it away".

Antoine Griezmann hits back at Thibaut Courtois criticism
France will face surprise package Croatia in the final of the World Cup , which takes place at the Luzhniki Stadium on Sunday. France forward Antoine Griezmann has hit back at Belgium goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois's criticism of his team's style of play.

The agency is urging consumers to check their homes for the recalled Kellogg's Honey Smacks.

The CDC warns the public not to eat any Honey Smacks cereal from any size package and with any "best if used by" date. Customers should either throw away the product or may return their box of cereal to a store for a full refund.

Additionally, if you stored the tainted cereal in any kind of a reusable container you'll need to wash and sanitize that container before you use it again. A case count map breaks down the location and prevalence of cases, the first of which was reported in early March. Well, it's getting worse, and the FDA is now asking people to please, please, PLEASE stop eating the tainted cereal.

The FDA and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said in June they were investigating the outbreak, which was also been linked to more than 60 illnesses and at least 31 hospitalizations in five states.

"Ill people range in age from less than one year to 95, with a median age of 57. This takes an average of 2 to 4 weeks". No deaths have been reported in this outbreak. The illness usually lasts 4 to 7 days, and most people recover without treatment.
