Australian rangers capture massive crocodile after 8-year search

A decade-long hunt for a notorious Northern Territory monster has come to an end after the capture of a 600kg crocodile

Ranger John Burke said authorities had been hunting the large crocodile in the area for a decade.

"It is a bit of a thrill, but you've also got to admire the size of the animal and how old it is".

Rangers had been on the lookout for the giant creature since it was first seen almost 10 years ago.

To report a problem crocodile, phone a Parks and Wildlife Commission ranger in Darwin on 0419 822 859 or in Katherine on 0407 958 405.

"Although this is the biggest we've caught in the Katherine River, there are bigger ones out there that come up from the Daly River", he added.

It is not the first time authorities have captured crocodiles in excess of four metres.

They are trained by Didier Deschamps , who won the Cup in 1998 as a player and is now trying to do the same as a coach. With the "Fubo Premier" bundle, you will get access to all four of the World Cup soccer TV channels in most markets.

With an estimated weight of up to 600 kilograms and thought to be more than 60 years old, it is the biggest crocodile ever removed from the Katherine River by the Territory's Wildlife Operation Unit, acting director Tracey Duldig said.

The post included a photo showing the crocodile tied down on a trailer with duct tape around its jaw.

The croc has been relocated to a local crocodile farm.

Because saltwater crocodiles can live up 70 years and grow throughout their lives, reaching up to 7 meters (23 feet), the proportion of large crocodiles is also rising.

Saltwater crocodiles, referred to as salties, are a common fixture of north Australia and kill an average of two people a year. This year, 190 have been captured.

The 1,300-pound predator was caught about 185 miles from the ocean and about 19 miles downstream from Katherine Gorge, a major tourist attraction outside the town of Katherine, the Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife officials said.
