Tropical Storm Chris tracking towards Atlantic Canada

The remnants of Hurricane Beryl have a 40 percent chance of reforming as a storm later this week over the Bahamas and western Atlantic Ocean forecasters said Monday morning. This is the five-day forecast

- Tropical Storm Chris has been churning in the Atlantic Ocean for a few days, and although it is expected to gain hurricane strength, it is not expected to make landfall in the U.S.

Though those in coastal North Carolina and Canada should continue to monitor Chris as it tracks northeast at near 9 miles per hour, no coastal watches or warnings are now in effect, the NHC said.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper warned beachgoers on Monday to beware of unsafe rip currents after an unidentified man in his mid-60s drowned in rough surf just north of Nags Head when he was caught in a rough surf current caused by the storm.

Chris is moving in a northeasterly direction at 2 miles per hour.

It's wonderful to think we last saw Williams onscreen as Lando in Return Of The Jedi , the actor reprising his portrayal from 1980's The Empire Strikes Back .

There were no coastal watching or warnings in effect as of Tuesday afternoon.

The remnants of Beryl looked set on Monday to bring 2 to 4 inches (5-10 cm) of rain to Puerto Rico, which is still trying to recover from hurricanes that walloped the US territory a year ago, causing an estimated $90 billion in damage. Still, the storm is expected to be upgraded to a hurricane later Tuesday as it moves into warmer waters.

It also issued a flash-flood watch for the U.S. Virgin Islands through Monday evening.
