Riyad Mahrez joins Man City: £60m star reveals all about long-awaited transfer

The couple have a young child together

The Algeria global, one of Leicester's title-winning heroes from the 2015-16 season, handed in a transfer request in January and had a 10-day absence from the club before returning to training with them on February 9.

The 27-year-old has been a long-term target for City, and moves to the Premier League champions on a five-year-deal for a fee believed to be in the region of £60m.

'Watching them from afar has been a pleasure.

After helping them win promotion to the Premier League, he then helped them win the English top flight, scoring 17 goals in 37 games as the won the title in 2015-16.

The Citizens have announced the signing of Algeria global Riyad Mahrez from Manchester City. "He beats defenders and creates space", City director of football Txiki Begiristain said.

Fanboys rejoice: Billy Dee Williams is officially returning to Star Wars
It's wonderful to think we last saw Williams onscreen as Lando in Return Of The Jedi , the actor reprising his portrayal from 1980's The Empire Strikes Back .

"Riyad is a hugely talented player".

"Pep is committed to playing attacking football, which is ideal for me, and City's performances last season were outstanding".

Since Mahrez made his Premier League debut in 2014, only eight players - Eden Hazard, Diego Costa, Eriksen, Jamie Vardy, Alexis Sanchez, Romelu Lukaku, Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane - have been involved in more goals.

The Foxes also are better prepared for him to leave this time as they bought highly-rated James Maddison from second-tier Norwich City for £2 million earlier in the close season.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Mahrez was due to meet up with the Leicester squad for their training camp in France, but club officials had allowed the Algerian global to stay in England as a deal moves closer to completion. He will be welcomed back to King Power Stadium as both an opposition player and a friend of the Club.
