Iran executes eight men over last year's terror attacks in Tehran

Iran's Revolutionary Guard responded by launching six missiles against ISIL in Syria

The death penalty for the eight terrorists carried out according to legal and religious principles due to their involvement in attacks on the Mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini and the Iranian Majlis (parliament) on June 7, 2017, a report by Tehran Public Prosecutor's Office said.

Over a dozen others remain on trial over the attack, the only IS assault on Iranian soil.

The office of Tehran's Prosecutor announced on Saturday morning that the eight terrorists have been executed.

In June 2017, the Daesh Takfiri terror group carried out simultaneous attacks on Iran's Parliament and the Mausoleum of the Founder of the Islamic Republic Imam Khomeini.

Iran was targeted for supporting Iraqi and Syrian authorities in their fight against IS and other jihadist groups.

Those executed were Soleiman Mozafari, Esmail Sufi, Rahman Behrouz, Majed Mortezai, Sirous Azizi, Ayoub Esmaili, Khosro Ramezani and Osman Behrouz.

Recall that in the aftermath of the attacks in June 2017, has killed at least 17 people, wounding more than 40.

During the attack, four armed assailants stormed the parliament complex where a legislative session was in progress, starting an hours-long siege.

Five terrorists died, either in suicide bombings or killed by Iranian security forces.

It was the first time that ISIS claimed responsibility for an attack in Iran.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) later said it had responded to the attacks by launching several ground-to-ground missiles into eastern Syria, targeting "terrorists".

Le Drian made the remarks before attending a meeting with other parties to JCPOA on the future of the Iran nuclear deal following the USA withdrawal.
