Environment Canada has lifted heat warnings for the affected regions, including Quebec, for the next several days.

The death toll in Canadian heat wave has reached 54.

Canadian health officials now say 33 people have died in Quebec from heat-related complications.

Montreal's health department reported 18 deaths, seven were reported in the Eastern Townships, six were reported in the Mauricie-Centre-du-Québec region, Montérégie's public health department reported two and one more was reported in Laval.

Numerous victims were older than 50, male, living alone and had no air conditioning, said Dr. David Kaiser of Montreal's Regional Public Health Department.

First Boys Rescued Emerge
President Donald Trump tweeted Sunday that USA personnel were on the ground at the cave site assisting in the operation. The area outside the hospital was cordoned off with police patrolling the area, said a Reuters reporter at the scene.

The number of victims of the intense heat in Canada has risen to 50 people, according to health authorities of the country. About it reports the Montreal Gazette, citing data from the press service of the Minister of health of the province.

The sweltering weather began last Friday with temperatures hitting 35 degrees Celcius with high humidity.

Environment Canada expected temperatures to cool on Friday with much less extreme highs of 23C to 25C over the weekend. "Obviously when we get there and the person may have passed, they're very rarely already with family".

In California in 2006, a 10-day heat wave was linked to 140 deaths.

Eighteen of the victims were in Montreal, while the rest died in areas across southern Quebec, the officials said. Signs of heat illness could include cramps and rashes, and among the people with the highest risk of suffering are generally older adults, young children, the homeless and people with chronic illnesses.
