The European Union (EU) could yet do a tariff deal with the U.S auto sector, despite unhappiness at the hardball negotiating style of President Donald Trump, according to the executive director of the International Trade Centre (ITC).

While the U.S.is facing such a dramatic bombardment of grievances, analysts see Trump's threats as reflective not only of the decline of US hegemony but as an indicator of the irreconcilable differences that have long seethed within the body. We have countries slapping tariffs on each other. "Most countries agree that they must be changed, but nobody ever asked!"

For specialists, this is not a normal circumstance in trade discussions.

A spokeswoman for the U.S. Trade Representative's office could not be immediately reached for comment on further details about such talks.

Russian Federation has joined five other countries and the European Union to become the latest country to take action through the World Trade Organization against the United States over the Trump administration's steel and aluminum duties.

The U.S. remains committed to the World Trade Organization, the International Monetary Fund said a report that cast doubt on speculation the Trump administration plans to withdraw from the Geneva-based organization.

Morici also criticized China's unfair trade practices, including the country's alleged theft of intellectual property. Tump's aggressiveness now aims to break with the schemes that have maintained global economic stability in one way or another.

"You know there is a mechanism where every year the US has a process to decide whether they want to pull out of the WTO".

The EU has called the levies pure protectionism, imposed retaliatory tariffs and complained to the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The United States Fair and Reciprocal Tariff Act would give the President unilateral power to ignore the two most basic principles of the WTO and negotiate one-to-one with any country.

"The increase in the ISM manufacturing index in June is a clear sign that, for now at least, the strength of the domestic economy is more than offsetting any increased uncertainty on trade policy", said Michael Pearce, Senior U.S. Economist at Capital Economics. According to White, "China does abuse us in terms of technological intellectual property, but while (Trump) can diagnose the problem, he comes up with solutions that are not going to be particularly helpful".

On Monday, the Chamber provided Reuters "a state-by-by state analysis" on how a global trade war will hurt consumers at home. Now, it seems like that was just the tip of the iceberg.
