Facebook to discontinue Hello, Moves and tbh apps

Facebook to shutter three of its mobile applications, including ‘Moves’ fitness tracking

Facebook claimed that the user data from all the three apps would be deleted within 90 days. Moves was a popular fitness tracking app that showed users their daily calorie burn based on the types of movements they performed. On Monday, Facebook announced that it was killing off tbh, along with two other apps that it bought or launched in recent years.

Fans of 3 of Facebook's underused applications - Hello, Moves, and tbh - will be saddened to know the apps are getting shut down.

Facebook launched Hello in 2015 as a way for people using Android in Brazil, Nigeria and the U.S. to combine contact information on their phone with information from Facebook. Facebook had said at the time the company's resources would be able to help tbh "continue to expand and build positive experiences", and at least some of the people involved in tbh appear to be staying put for now despite the closure. Within the next few weeks, users of the apps Hello, Moves and tbh will have to say goodbye and figure out alternatives, according to Facebook's Monday news release.

In this week's Facebook Ads tutorial, we look at how to create Lookalike Audiences in Facebook Ads, and how to ... Meanwhile, the Moves fitness app was bought back in 2014. The app launched in September 2017 and was acquired by Facebook a month later but never gained much traction.

Austria to 'protect' borders after German migrant deal
Opinion polls suggest that, in the event of a fresh election, the SPD would not profit from the CDU-CSU rift over migration. As the CDU and CSU parties hunkered down in Berlin and Munich, leaders on both sides sought to clarify what was a stake.

"We regularly review our apps to assess which ones people value most", the company wrote in its announcement. The app let users participate in anonymous polls and give positive feedback to friends. But we need to prioritize our work so we don't spread ourselves too thin.

One, an anonymous social media app aimed at teenagers called tbh, is less than one year old.

Facebook has a long track record of acquiring apps and later closing them, said Jack Kent, analyst at IHS Markit. "And it's only by trial and error that we'll create great social experiences for people".
