Baltusrol named to host 2029 PGA Championship

GRAND RAPIDS MI- JUNE 17 Lee Anne Pace of South Africa hits her tee shot on the second hole during the final round of the Meijer LPGA Classic for Simply Give at Blythefield Country Club

A week after Nasa Hataoka earned her first Tour win, the 19-year-old Japanese narrowly missed out on capturing her first major when she finished runner-up to South Korea's Park Sung Hyun at the Women's PGA Championship Sunday after a three-person playoff.

And she continued to head in the wrong direction as the tournament wrapped up at the Kemper Lakes Golf Club early Monday (NZT), with the 21-year-old Kiwi posting a four-over 76 to finish on one over, in a tie for 31st.

Ko birdied the first hole and just kept rolling from there - all the way into contention for a third major victory. Park pumped her first in celebration, and went on to make par.

Carlota Ciganda was one stroke back, with Lydia Ko, Moriya Jutanugarn and Annie Park at 4 under on a day when the temperature was around 90F.

"I think for long game, I can give myself an A, and then about the putting, also I can give myself an A. That's what really made me cry", Park told reporters.

A day after feeling that a three-under 69 did not reflect how well she had played, Ryu admitted an identical score on Friday was perhaps more than she deserved.

"I didn't expect it would be a playoff when I was going up", Hataoka said.

The solemnisation was done in the presence of an Imam , her parents and witnesses as per the pictures that went viral. Between 2005 and 2015, 10,240 Muslims applied for child marriage to the Jabatan Kehakiman Syariah Malaysia.

But while clubhouse leaders Park and Ryu awaited their playoff tied at 10-under-par, Japanese teenager Nasa Hataoka nearly rewrote the script, coming from nowhere with a final round 64 to join them in the sudden-death shootout.

She also won the Meijer LPGA Classic two weeks ago in MI for her sixth LPGA Tour victory.

Ryu is playing with plenty of confidence after collecting her first win of 2018 at the Meijer Classic two weeks ago. "I could have made double-bogey instead of (par), but the little bag was there, so it saved me". Ryu and Park traded birdies to set up a one-on-one showdown to decide the tournament. On the other hand, she won the tournament before that.

Ryu responded with a birdie at the 16th, giving her a two-shot lead, but found water at the par-3 17th and made a double bogey, falling back level with Nataoka and Park, who both parred 18 to force extra holes. "I was even joking", Park said.

Park said she'd never executed a shot like that, but she didn't doubt she could pull it off. (But) I wasn't nervous at all.

The back-to-back birdies by Ryu and two late bogeys by Henderson turned things in a hurry.

"For sure that one of my luckiest moments out there", she said.
