5 Dead In Shooting | Crime Time — Capital Gazette Newspaper

Authorities in Anne Arundel County confirmed the deaths at the Capital Gazette in a press conference aired by local media. The Federal Bureau of Investigation is on the scene assisting local authorities, the official said.

A law enforcement source told CBS News the suspect in the shooting is a white male in his 20s and that he didn't have identification on him.

President Donald Trump tweeted, "Prior to departing Wisconsin, I was briefed on the shooting at Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland".

Police respond to a shooting in Annapolis, Maryland, June 28, 2018. "Once the building is secure we'll give more information whether the suspect is in fact in custody, that building is secure and make sure we give everybody a quick briefing on the extent and how many injuries".

County Sheriff Ron Bateman says one suspect is in custody following incident at Capital Gazette in Maryland.

Two patients were transported to the Anne Arundel Medical Center, which was placed on lockdown for about an hour.

Jimmy DeButts, an editor at the newspaper, tweeted after the shooting that he was "devasted & heartbroken".

Lt. Ryan Frashure said a gunman opened fire at 888 Bestgate Road in Annapolis - an office building where the newspaper's office is located.

Woman charged after speeding down Florida interstate with man clinging to hood
You can hear her yell at him to "get off", though it seems a rather pointless thing to say considering the speed she's going at. The footage shows Francis clinging to the speeding Mercedes-Benz as it reached speeds of up to 70 miles per hour .

"We're still talking to the individual, we're engaging the individual, we're trying to find a motive", Frashure said.

Davis described the situation as "bad".

In a series of tweets, Davis later wrote that a "single shooter shot multiple people", inside the office, "some of whom are dead".

The Baltimore Sun reported the shooting happened inside the Capital Gazette newsroom, citing a Gazette reporter, Phil Davis, who was inside when the shooting happened.

Following speculation that the shooting may have been motivated by hostility for the media, police in Baltimore and New York City have stationed officers at newsrooms for protection.

Police cars have swarmed the scene and people were seen streaming out of the building with their hands up.

Anne Arundel County Police Department spokesman Marc Limansky said officers were searching the building. He said officers must look for other dangers, such as bombs and other shooters.
