‘Making A Murderer’ Subject Denied U.S. Supreme Court Appeal

Brendan Dassey is escorted out of a Manitowoc County Circuit courtroom

Robert Ingersoll and his partner Curt Freed had been customers at her flower shop for years, but Stutzman told them she wouldn't provide wedding flowers because of her "relationship with Jesus Christ". Like Phillips, she had previously served gay customers - including the man who filed this complaint against her - but declined to be part of his same-sex wedding because of her sincerely held religious belief that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Today, the Supreme Court announced it would not take up the Arlene's Flowers case, instead sending it back to the state court to reconsider in the wake of their Masterpiece Cakeshop ruling.

The attorney representing an inmate featured in the "Making a Murderer" series is vowing to keep fighting for him after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to take his case. Washington State Attorney General Bob Ferguson and the American Civil Liberties Union of Washington sued Stutzman.

"The Court today goes out of its way to permit the State of Texas to use maps that the three-judge District Court unanimously found were adopted for the goal of preserving the racial discrimination that tainted its previous maps", wrote Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

At the Supreme Court, Dassey was represented by former US solicitor general Seth Waxman, who is a prominent practitioner before the court.

The justices threw out a 2017 ruling by Washington state's Supreme Court that Barronelle Stutzman, owner of Arlene's Flowers in the city of Richland, about 200 miles (320 km) southeast of Seattle, had violated the state's anti-discrimination law and a consumer protection measure. The arguments in the case are similar to the arguments in Masterpiece Cakeshop v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, but the case revolved around floral arrangements, not cake.

Argentina have last shot at World Cup salvation
And his 31st birthday on Sunday only served to highlight how time is running out for Messi to win a major worldwide tournament. Jaws dropped when Willy Caballero gifted Ante Rebic a free shot at goal as Argentina faced Croatia at the World Cup .

More episodes of Making a Murder will be coming soon and will hopefully offer insight into the Supreme Court's decision. "Over the past 20 years, extensive empirical and psychological research has shown that children under 18 are between three and four times more likely to falsely confess than adults - and yet the criminal justice system fails many of them".

"Washington Attorney General Ferguson's efforts to punish Barronelle because he disagrees with her beliefs about marriage are as hostile and unconstitutional as Colorado's attempt to punish Jack for his faith", he said.

"The video of Brendan's interrogation shows a confused boy who was manipulated by experienced police officers into accepting their story of how the murder of Teresa Halbach happened", she said. A lower court's unanimous decision said the districts violated the Constitution and the Voting Rights Act, and ordered the state to quickly redraw the map.

The baker refused to make a cake for the couple after he found out they were celebrating their wedding.

Stutzman appealed, saying she had a right to refuse the couple based on her opposition to same-sex marriage.
