Suns select big man Ayton as No. 1

Deandre Ayton played a lot of Fortnite before NBA draft to calm his nerves

He's the ninth consecutive one-and-done player to be taken No. 1 overall.

The 2018 NBA Draft has finally come and gone.

Former University of Arizona standout Deandre Ayton was introduced officially by the Suns in Phoenix less than 24 hours after being the #1 overall selection in the National Basketball Association draft. Armed with the first overall pick - along with the #16, #31 and #59 selections - no team was better positioned to bolster its core than Phoenix.

Dallas swung a draft-night trade with the Atlanta Hawks to land highly-touted guard Luka Doncic, who some have labeled the most talented player in the draft.

The Mavericks also gave up a future first-round pick to draft Doncic, who only arrived in NY on Wednesday after helping Spain's Real Madrid win its league championship after he won Euroleague MVP and Final Four MVP honors when they won that title this year.

Injuries limited Vanderbilt during his freshman season at Kentucky, keeping him from really finding his place in their lineup and hurting his draft stock.

"I sat there and I watched". We've got young lets.

"I know I'm going No. 1", Ayton told reporters.

Brazil vs. Costa Rica
La Sele will play its final World Cup 2018 game against Switzerland on Wednesday at 12 pm Costa Rica time . The referee initially granted a penalty to Brazil.

Dončić could very well end up as the best player in the class.

The top of it was dominated by big men, starting with a pair of former high school teammates.

The Suns made the 7-foot-1 Ayton the first No. 1 pick in franchise history.

Between his outstanding physical profile and the 20.1 points per game he averaged on 61.2% shooting during his lone season with the Wildcats, it's easy to see why the Suns were enamored with Ayton.

Deandre Ayton is now the second Bahamian player to go No.1, since 1978 when Mychal Thompson was the only other player to go No.1 from the Bahamas.

Diallo, who likely would've been a first-round pick if he would've stayed in last year's draft, was picked for his elite athleticism. "Having all the confidence and leading up to that point when I saw (NBA Commissioner) Adam Silver came out, I was just waiting for my name, and when he called it, my mind went blank". But they ended up disappointed as NY went with Kentucky's Kevin Knox. If you look at where they usually draft it's in the teens to 20. "That's the same mindset I'm going to have", Knox said. But Michael Porter Jr. wasn't the only big-name prospect that fell down the boards. "But they got Kevin Knox, and I'm willing to work and I'm willing to get better". The biggest story of the lottery may have been Michael Porter Jr. slipping all the way to the Denver Nuggets at No. 14.

Since acquiring the pick from the Boston Celtics in the Kyrie Irving trade last summer, it had been speculated as to whether Cleveland would use the pick or trade it to get James help.

Tyneeha Rivers, the mother of Mikal Bridges and the Philadelphia 76ers' vice president of human resources, understandably was thrilled when her team selected Bridges 10th overall, gushing to ESPN's Maria Taylor about her son coming home. With Phoenix reportedly also trying to land Gilgeous-Alexander, the Hornets managed to extract a pair of future second-round picks from Los Angeles, along with the 12th pick, which they used to select Miles Bridges. Brothers Jrue and Justin already play in the league.
