‘Do u?’ Melania’s jacket sparks fresh outrage amid immigration row

Entrance to Casa Padre where as many as 1,400 boys are being housed

"This was 100% her idea".

After the President's u-turn, the First Lady made an unannounced visit to a child detention facility in Texas.

But Melania Trump's fashion has often played a leading role during her tenure as first lady. During her visit, Mrs. Trump toured a children's shelter and attended a briefing on the status of immigrant children.

It's fair to say a khaki anorak isn't Mrs Trump's ordinary choice of attire.

Her visit comes amid growing outrage in the United States over a policy that separates migrant children who illegally enter the USA with their parents.

"It's a jacket. There was no hidden message". Federal agencies were working to set up a centralized reunification process for the remaining separated children and their families at the Port Isabel Detention Cente just north of border in Texas, said the official, who was not authorized to speak publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.

Meanwhile, the mayors of about 20 US cities gathered at a holding facility for immigrant children in the border city of El Paso.

"But first of all, let me begin to recognize each of you and thanking you for all that you do, for your heroic work that you do every day and what you do for those children".

Melania said earlier through her spokesperson that she "hates" to see families separated at the border.

Sessions says comparing separated children's quarters to Nazi Germany is an "exaggeration"
US Attorney General Jeff Sessions makes a statement regarding national security in NY , U.S., November 2, 2017. Only about 20% of those seeking asylum actually merit it, she said.

Did NOBODY think to tell her that wearing this was a bad idea?? To not separate the families, his administration released both children and parents trusting they would appear at the court hearing on their immigration cases.

"I am appalled by the reports and images from detention facilities in Texas and other states along the border, where more than 2,300 children have been separated from their parents by border patrol agents", Lee wrote in a letter to the United Nations. One said that the average time for a child to be reunited to members of their families was between 42 and 45 days.

Many critics have also highlighted the Trump family's obsession with their image, saying that it was highly unlikely the First Lady would have put on the coat without realizing the reaction it was likely to provoke.

It's a concept that President Trump referred to as a "tough dilemma" when he announced he was ending family separations.

When Trump arrived at Joint Base Andrews Thursday morning to travel to Texas, wearing the "I-really-don't-care" jacket with its message emblazoned in white paint, it was first noticed by the Daily Mail.

"She wants to see what's real", the first lady's spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told CNN en route to Texas. "After today's important visit to Texas, I hope this isn't what the media is going to choose to focus on", Grisham said.

Watched by Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen (l) and Vice President Mike Pence, U.S. President Donald Trump signs an executive order on immigration in the Oval Office of the White House June 20.

In a Thursday afternoon tweet, the president agreed that there was a message, and said it was aimed at one of Trump's favorite targets, the "fake news media".

Does the jacket actually hold a hidden meaning?
