First official images of new 2019 Suzuki Jimny revealed

Suzuki Jimny

The Jimny will make its official launch debut early next month, with preliminary details already released. "However, we are hopeful, with Suzuki Motor Corporation's recent reveal, our request for this vehicle will be confirmed soon".

The new Jimny keeps the SUV's gritty, square styling.

More evolutionary than revolutionary, the new Jimny has a boxy profile, a new face with revised front grille and round headlights, while the cab looks updated but remarkably similar. Industry sources suggest they will include the 1.2-litre and 1.0-litre turbo petrol units now available in other Suzuki models, and will not include a diesel option, Suzuki having dropped all diesel form its United Kingdom range in recent months.

Depending on the customer's preferences, the Jimny will be equipped with 15- or 16-inch wheels, as well as features like cruise control, keyless engine start, multi-function steering wheel, and air conditioning.

While Maruti Suzuki is yet to greenlight the fourth generation Jimny for the Indian market, there's a good chance that the long wheelbase version of the SUV arriving here in due course of time with India becoming a production hub for the off-roader. Transmission duties are likely to be carried out by either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic gearbox.

The fourth-generation model will launch first in Japan and is not expected on United Kingdom roads until early in 2019.

It's entirely possible Suzuki wasn't planning to reveal any official images at this point, but after a set of unofficial images from a presentation were leaked on the internet last week the company has now put these official renderings on its global website. Suzuki also has a 1.4-litre turbo that develops 103kW, but this could be too powerful for the rugged Jimny.
