Google Maps Doesn’t Let You Directly Book Uber Rides Anymore

The integration allowed you to book a ride, track your driver, complete, and pay for the ride without ever leaving the Google Maps application. However, Google has just removed this integration, and now you're back to booking your ride directly via the Uber application. Google has removed the feature that lets users book an Uber ride from within Google Maps.

Previously, you could look up a route for a ride-sharing trip and compare pricing from various services, including Uber.

Neither Google nor Uber have offered any explanations as to why this change has taken place. Tech companies fighting amongst themselves often results in the end user being inconvenienced in some way and we hope that Google and Uber sort their differences before things get too bad. In the USA, that means Lyft is now the only option, location depending. The iOS version of the app lost the feature last Summer, and now it's been excised from the Android version, as spotted by Android Police. If you don't have the app installed, you will be sent to the Google Play Store where you can install it.

Meghan's father sorry to have missed wedding to Britain's Prince Harry
Meghan Markle has vowed to give up something she loves so much, in order to please her new husband, Prince Harry . Asked whether a "stork" had visited the palace yet, Mr Markle said Meghan has "wanted children for a long time".

Later, Uber and Google Maps added support to fully request a ride, without needing to switch to the Uber app. "But you can still look up the route in the Maps app and then request the ride from the Uber app". At first, Uber was the only ride sharing app to show up in Google Maps directions view.

It's unclear what prompted Google's change here, though it's worth noting that the company does have a stake in the game. In 2013, meanwhile, Google Ventures invested $258m in Uber.
