Rudy Giuliani Demands Mueller Probe Be Suspended ‘Tomorrow’

James Comey speaks at the White House following his nomination by President Barack Obama to be the next director of the FBI 21 June 2013

According to Giuliani, Trump is not considering pardoning Cohen or Manafort, but may change his mind.

"I don't understand the justification for putting him in jail", Giuliani, 74, said.

However, hours after the comments spread like wildfire, Giuliani responded and seemingly backtracked from his original comments.

"Mueller should suspend his investigation, and he should go see Rod Rosenstein, who created him, and the deputy attorney general and Attorney General Sessions, who should now step up big time to save his department", Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, told Fox News' Sean Hannity on Thursday.

Giuliani also renewed his attacks on the legitimacy of the Russian Federation inquiry headed by Justice Department special counsel Robert Mueller. "I don't think Mueller and his people need to be investigated, unless something comes out of that", he said.

He said the messages indicted to a clear fault in the special counsel's probe and called on it to be suspended.

The investigation, which he said should be led by the Justice Department, should look into the special counsel "not necessarily because of Mueller but because of its genesis in this nearly completely illegal and unethical probe". Giuliani suggested Friday that presidential pardons could be given to people caught up in the Mueller investigation. As Newsweek reported, President Trump's lawyer called Federal Bureau of Investigation and prosecutors investigating his client "wackadoodles" who belong in a psychiatric ward.

Finally, during an interview with CNN's Chris Cuomo, Giuliani confirmed that Trump will not pardon anyone, but explained the president also will not relinquish his pardon power. "It would completely change the momentum we have right now", he said.

Democrats said the inspector general's report provided no grounds to undermine Mueller's continuing investigation. "The phony Russian Collusion was a made up Hoax".

Appearing on "Face the Nation", Giuliani said Trump's legal team nonetheless owed it to him to "sort through" the options of how an interview with Mueller could proceed, because "the president wants to do it".

"Of course it's wrong to lie, it breaks one of the commandments, I think", Giuliani replied before arguing Trump's "distinction is a correct one".

"That kind of investigation should not go forward", he said.
