Two Kansas City Sheriff's Deputies Dead Following Shooting

Wyandotte County deputies Theresa King and Patrick Rohrer were shot to death Friday apparently during an inmate transfer to a court hearing in Kansas City Kan

'It is very possible that with their own firearm, they were both shot, ' Wyandotte County sheriff's Maj. Investigators said the inmate may have grabbed a weapon from one of the deputies during a struggle late Friday morning.

Two Wyandotte County sheriff's deputies who were mortally wounded Friday while transporting an inmate were hailed Saturday as heroes who sacrificed their lives in service to public safety.

On Friday, both deputies of the Wyandotte County Sheriff's Office were transported to the University of Kansas Hospital. He also says he doesn't know if the woman had left the shed or was still inside when she was shot.

Price Chopper will be collecting donations to help support the families of Deputy Patrick Rohrer and Deputy Theresa King who died Friday after an inmate opened fire on them. Kelli Bailiff said. King, 44, died early on Saturday at a hospital.

Sources tell KSN media partners Antoine Fielder allegedly shot and killed Wyandotte County Deputy Patrick Rohrer, 35, and Theresa King, 44, as he was being transferred from the Wyandotte County Courthouse.

Bailiff said the investigation is now being handled by the police department in Kansas City.

Kansas City police spokesman Zac Blair said officers were speaking to witnesses about shooting. "Praying for Wyandotte County!" the Kansas City Kansas Police department wrote on Facebook following King's passing. "We will be looking at that video", he said. He asked for a moment of silence after his speech, according to the Kansas City Star.

Kansas City, Kansas has dealt with other officer shootings in the recent years. Brad Lancaster, who was fatally shot earlier in 2016 near the Kansas Speedway.
