Paul Manafort to be Jailed Following Witness Tampering Allegation

The investigation led by Mueller "has massive conflicts", Trump said.

Trump and Manafort have known each other for decades.

On Friday afternoon, the president did question the revocation of Manafort's bail. He later wrote on Twitter that Manafort got a "tough sentence".

Donald Trump's former campaign manager Paul Manafort has been sent to jail, after a judge in Washington DC revoked his bail.

"It's one thing to be a stand-up guy and not cooperate with prosecutors when you're out and about", said Jeffrey Cramer, a longtime former federal prosecutor who spent 12 years at the Justice Department.

His lobbying firm - Black, Manafort, Stone and Kelly (the Stone was Roger Stone, who is also reportedly under investigation by the special counsel) - was included in a 1992 report by the Center for Public Integrity titled "The Torturers' Lobby". He's first scheduled to go to trial in Virginia on another case brought by Mueller involving charges of bank fraud, tax evasion and failing to report foreign bank accounts.

Manafort will remain in jail while he awaits two trials in the next few months.

The order marked an end to nearly eight months of attempts by Manafort to lighten his house arrest restrictions after he was charged and pleaded not guilty to foreign lobbying violations.

Jackson indicated as much during Friday's hearing.

'This is not middle school.

Now he is going to jail, giving special counsel Robert Mueller the maximum possible leverage to flip the longtime political operator against the U.S. president.

However, you can only play on the PS4 if you started there - Sony doesn't let the data out to other platforms. Unfortunately, fans probably aren't going to be any happier after they hear what Sony has to say.

If Mr Manafort is convicted, he faces years in jail.

One important factor, however, could stand in the way of prosecutors' sealing a cooperation deal with the former Trump campaign chairman.

Prosecutors alleged that Mr. Manafort attempted to coach two witnesses whose identities have not been revealed so that their testimony worked in his favor. "And the second is the hail-Mary pass of a pardon from the president". He and his colleagues asserted that because the defendant committed another crime while on bail, he deserved to sit it out in jail.

Trump also tweeted with sarcasm that he "didn't know Manafort was the head of the Mob" and asked: "What about Comey and Crooked Hillary and all of the others?"

The geographic focus of the lobbying effort could be a critical question at Manafort's trial in the case since US law only requires that lobbyists for foreign governments or political parties register if their efforts target American government officials or audiences in the U.S. That timeline has now moved up.

According to multiple reporters in the courtroom, Manafort - who has been under house arrest in Virginia since October - was taken into custody immediately after the judge's ruling.

Manafort's political skills in the United States were of more interest to Trump.

Manafort's initial indictment stemmed from work that he did before he joined the Trump campaign.

On Friday, they told the judge Manafort was a "danger to the community" and that he had committed a crime while out on release: obstruction of justice.

Manafort witnessed several key episodes under investigation by Mueller's team.
