Building heat and humidity this weekend

Friday afternoon Future Radar

Sunday will keep with plenty of sunshine, gusty south winds, hot temperatures in the 90s, and slightly humid conditions. Factoring in humidity, it is likely to feel like 100 degrees or higher. An Excessive Heat Warning in effect through the Monday at 8 p.m for the metro St. Louis area.

This is the first major outbreak of high heat and humidity this year. Lower Michigan should be in the lower half of the 90s. A dew point of 60 is when humans start to feel uncomfortable.

Stay hydrated and pay attention to your body.

Sunday, highs hit the mid 90s. Dad may require a few extra cold beverages to stay cool as he relaxes on his day. "But as the center of the high-pressure system moves offshore over the weekend, it will morph into a "Bermuda High" and will pump in higher temperatures and transport moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, making it very humid".

Dulles could even challenge the record high of 92 for the date, while the others should be safe.

The heat wave stretches into Monday of the work week.

Phil Mickelson takes 2-shot penalty for hitting a moving golf ball!
For some reason, he made a decision to give himself the gift of a two-stroke penalty during the third round of the U.S. Saturday was Mickelson's 48th birthday, and there were good vibes everywhere early in his round.

Existing high temperature records could fall at all three observing locations.

That cold front that ran through earlier today wasn't real successful producing rain, but it's sure did a fantastic job getting rid of the humidity.

There's no way to pinpoint where a single storm will develop on any given day, so we use a combination of (1) confidence that storms will develop and (2) expected coverage in the forecast area.

Expect more widely scattered storms across the region through Father's Day weekend.

We'll have to watch for thunderstorms on this day, which should then break the heat.
