New York sues to dissolve Trump Foundation, cites illegal conduct

Happy birthday Mr. President! NYS Attorney General files civil lawsuit against Trump his kids and his charity foundation

President Donald Trump's charitable foundation has persistently broken state and federal laws with improper political activity, self-dealing and failing to follow basic fiduciary obligations, NY said in a lawsuit seeking to dissolve the organization.

The president blasted the case as politically motivated.

Trump's children were on a board that "existed in name only" and did not meet after 1999, according to the lawsuit, leaving their father without any oversight to do with the foundation what he wished.

Underwood's suit claims that the foundation's charitable assets were used to pay off Trump's legal obligations, promote his hotels and to buy personal items.

Trump also singled out Underwood's predecessor, Democrat Eric Schneiderman, in his tweets.

In another case, Trump's political campaign allegedly "planned, organized, and financed" a January 28, 2016, Iowa fundraiser staffed by Trump's charity, which in reality functioned like a campaign event. The Foundation has donated over $19 million to worthy charitable causes-more than it even received. "This is unconscionable - particularly because the foundation previously announced its intention to dissolve more than a year and a half ago".

Schneiderman, the former state attorney general, resigned in May but the suit was filed by Underwood. Oh, and the suit also accuses Trump of criminal perjury!

August 1949 - National Basketball League (NBL) teams join the BAA, to become the National Basketball Association (NBA). James was given a standing ovation when he was subbed out with 4:03 left and now comes the question of his future.

The president added that "Schneiderman, who ran the Clinton campaign in NY, never had the guts to bring this ridiculous case, which lingered in their office for nearly 2 years". After the investigation began, Trump reimbursed the foundation for the Mar-a-Lago payment, the Golf Club repaid it for the contest settlement, and the Doral resort's parent company returned the Trump painting to the foundation, ultimately also paying about $200 in rent and interest for its use, according to the complaint.

"The Trump Foundation also entered into at least five self-dealing transactions that were unlawful because they benefitted Mr Trump or businesses he controls", the attorney general's office added. Trump is returning from a vacation to Bedminster, N.J.

Additionally, Underwood sent letters to the IRS and Federal Election Commission identifying possible violations of law that the agencies may want to take legal action against. The suit says that the fundraiser was actually a political event, and therefore violated the rules that govern charities.

Among the charges are "improper and extensive political activities". Trump held the fundraiser instead of participating in the final GOP presidential debate before the Iowa caucuses.

But roughly $2.8 million was raised for the foundation at a 2016 Iowa political fund-raiser for the Trump campaign.

The lawsuit said "at least five $100,000 grants were made to groups in Iowa in the days immediately before the February 1 Iowa caucuses".
