Rep. Sanford Says 'I'm Going to Lose This Race'

That's the lesson being learned by Republicans after Trump critic and GOP Rep. Mark Sanford lost his primary election in SC hours after the president tweeted that he was "very unhelpful".

President Donald Trump made his feelings about one S.C. candidate known just hours before polls closed in the state primary. Katie Arrington, repeatedly highlighted Sanford's criticism of the president.

"Our republic was based on reason", Sanford told Politico.

Another Republican who was also critical of Trump, Alabama GOP Rep. Martha Roby, is also at risk of losing re-election.

A second incumbent Republican congressman has lost his seat in a primary featuring intense divisions among the GOP in the Trump era. Tim Kaine in the fall.

Democratic State Sen. Jennifer Wexton was the clear victor in a six-way primary in a northern Virginia district considered key to the House battleground map this fall, and will challenge Republican Rep. Barbara Comstock.

Voters on Tuesday decided state Rep. Katie Arrington would be the Republican candidate in the coastal 1st District.

Trump has been accused of extra martial affairs.

Arrington, the first-term state lawmaker who defeated him on Tuesday, aired ads that featured clips of Sanford speaking critically about Trump's actions.

"A lot of Republicans who hid behind Trump's toga in the primary are going to pay a price in November", said veteran Republican consultant Rich Galen, a former aide to ex-U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich. The president took note of his last-minute intervention in the race.

That was a reference to Sanford's surprise disappearance from the state as governor, which he later revealed was to continue his affair with an Argentine woman.

Deontay Wilder taking huge pay cut to fight Anthony Joshua, claims trainer
"But I think they are slowly realizing that without Anthony Joshua , the future is not too bright and rosy for Deontay Wilder ". AJ would want Wembley for a fight of this magnitude but if we do October or November you can't really do that outdoors.

In his tweet, Trump said: "Mark Sanford has been very unhelpful to me in my campaign to MAGA".

Shortly after the president's Tuesday tweet, senior conservative GOP members rallied around Sanford. "He is better off in Argentina", the president wrote.

That's the lesson many Republicans are drawing from Rep. Mark Sanford's surprise defeat Tuesday in his primary election in SC. In his remarks Tuesday night, he said: "I stand by every one of those decisions to disagree with the president".

Arrington endorsed Senator Marco Rubio in the 2016 contest and said she was following the lead of the state's governor at the time, Nikki Haley.

Comstock got a surprisingly low 61 percent of the vote in her primary against a little-known challenger who attacked her willingness to criticize Trump.

Sanford previously represented the coastal district from 1995 to 2001. "We have had it with career politicians".

Meanwhile, in Virginia, Republicans gave their Senate nomination to conservative extremist Corey Stewart, who, as he celebrated his victory, railed in Trumpian fashion against "criminal illegal aliens", and added, "by the way, they are animals".

Stewart, who fended off two GOP rivals for the nomination, is a member of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors. Harry Reid. Angle, who lost to Reid in her 2010 bid for Senate, lost her primary challenge to Rep. Mark Amodei on Tuesday. Heidi Heitkamp. And Nevada Democrats picked Rep. Jacky Rosen as their nominee against Republican Sen.

In North Dakota, GOP Rep. Kevin Cramer is a shoo-in to face moderate Democratic Sen. Corker and Flake both decided not to seek re-election.

If Democrats have any shot of winning control of the Senate, they'll need to successfully defend Sen. The Congressman's prediction came true, with him conceding to Arrington.

Templeton remains in third with 21 percent.
