Trudeau had said after Trump's exit that Canada would retaliate against USA tariffs.

"Fair Trade is now to be called Fool Trade if it is not Reciprocal", Trump tweeted, as he criticized Canadian tariffs on imports of United States milk.

"He (Trudeau) was polarising".

Merkel, whose office over the weekend released a photo of leaders and aides which illustrates the divide between Trump and his allies, said she had "tried hard to find a compromise and we fought hard for it. this was an important announcement".

"I feel that Kim Jong Un wants to do something great for his people and he has that opportunity", Trump said at a press conference just before he departed a G-7 summit in Charlevoix, Canada, for his historic Tuesday rendezvous with Kim in Singapore.

"I'm very proud of how, not only of our government but also opposition parties and premiers, business communities and civil society have all piled in on the same side in trying to negotiate a very hard situation".

At a meeting in Berlin hosted by Chancellor Angela Merkel, the German leader and top officials from a half-dozen global organizations said in a joint statement that the "increasing protectionist tendencies provide us with a clear incentive and opportunity to express our strong support for the multilateral trading system".

France is also standing by the G7 communique, a French presidency official said, adding anyone departing from the commitments made at the summit would be showing their "incoherence and inconsistency".

"Way over the top with Navarro".

Merkel calls US retraction of support 'sobering and somewhat depressing'
Trump also incorrectly claimed that the photo "was put out by my people", as it was released by Merkel's office . Trump also incorrectly claimed that the photo was released by the United States team.

It was followed by the shocking words of White House Trade Adviser, Peter Navarro, who said in an interview with Fox News, "There's a "special place in hell" for any foreign leader that engages in bad-faith diplomacy with President Donald J. Trump and then tries to stab him in the back on the way out the door". That's what week, dishonest Justin Trudeau did.

On board Air Force One, an AFP reporter was told that Trump had approved the agreement, only to be told later of the tweets.

Navarro added that Trudeau's move was "one of the worst political miscalculations of a Canadian leader in modern Canadian history". "All Justin Trudeau had to do was take the win", Navarro said.

Trump's chief economic adviser said the United States pulled out of supporting the communique because the president was enraged by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. Big trade barriers against US farmers, and other businesses, will finally be broken.

He did him a favour and he was even willing to sign that socialist communique.

"Germany stands by the jointly agreed communique", spokesman Steffen Seibert said in a statement.

"They pay only a fraction of the cost - and laugh", he wrote, adding that the European Union needed to pay "much more" to help fund the global military alliance, which comprises 28 members including the UK, US, Germany, Canada and Turkey.

"Take NAFTA for example. They're gonna do what they can to defend and protect their country, just like we're trying to do the same thing with ours".

Adding to the United States trade deficit is "the fact that the USA pays close to the entire cost of NATO-protecting many of these same countries that rip us off on Trade (they pay only a fraction of the cost-and laugh!)".
