Wendy's Shades IHOP Over Name Change to IHOb in Savage Tweet

IHOP announced Monday morning that it's temporarily changing its name to International House of Burgers. Twitter @IHOb

"Now let's see who guessed right". The pancake house is now selling what it calls "Ultimate Steakburgers" - a menu item so monumental, it seems, that it warranted a name change "for the time being", the company said in a statement.

A&W, Whataburger, Chili's and Denny's piled on with facetious name-changes and gibes about the new IHOB's burgers.

Cowboy BBQ with bacon, onion rings and barbecue sauce.

Mega Monster: Two Steakburger patties, American and White Cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, red onion, pickles and Steakburger sauce.

And the internet isn't supporting the measure. "Consequently, we needed to make a bold signal to disrupt people's thinking about IHOP and make it IHOb'".

Fans still wouldn't have it.

Queen's Birthday Honours: Outstanding Gold Coasters recognised
Professor Rosemary Davis, from Moreton-in-Marsh, who is Professor Emeritus at University College London, is made CBE for services to education.

Chief Marketing Officer Brad Haley told USA Today the restaurant has always sold burgers.

"Well there is stupider", Turkel Brands president Bruce Turkel said during an interview on FOX Business' "After the Bell".

The risky switch from flapjacks to burgers comes after Dine Grand Global, the parent company of IHOP and Applebee's, saw a 1.9 percent decline in sales in its most recent fiscal year, reports show.

Although the name change may not be permanent, a few IHOP's in Los Angeles have taken things to the next level by changing their store signs. Others pegged the "burgers" gimmick in advance as well.

Since IHOP announced the name change (without saying to what) on Twitter last Monday, more than 30,000 people have participated in the speculation game.

Social media users do not seem to be happy with the new name change.

It looks like IHOP isn't the only restaurant chain rebranding itself.
