Hurricane forecasters watching another wave of storms stirring in the Caribbean

Forecasters on Monday said the cluster of rough weather had a 10 percent chance over the next two days of becoming the second storm of the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Bud had maximum sustained winds of 115 miles per hour (185 kph) Monday morning.

Some additional strengthening is possible today but a slow weakening should begin tomorrow.

The NHC alert said: "At 9am MDT (2pm GMT) the eye of Hurricane Bud was located near latitude 16.7 North, longitude 106.8 West. Bud is moving toward the northwest near 7 miles per hour (11 km/h), and this motion is expected to continue today and tonight with a decrease in forward speed". Forecasters said it was likely to weaken before a possible brush with the resort-dotted southern tip of the Baja California peninsula late in the week.

In its latest update at 6am MDT, the NHC said up to 10 inches of rain could fall in isolated regions of southwestern Mexico on Tuesday afternoon.

Missing Air Force officer with top-secret clearance found after 35 years
He could face up to five years of confinement, forfeiture of all pay and dishonorable discharge from the Air Force. Hughes Jr. masqueraded as "Barry O'Beirne" for over 35 years after he deserted his post with the U.S.

At Category 3, Bud was classified as a major hurricane.

A tropical storm watch is in effect from Manzanillo to Cabo Correintes.

An area of clouds, rain, and low pressure in the southern Caribbean Sea has a small chance of becoming a tropical depression or tropical storm in the next 5 days.

The swell also will generate strong rip and side currents, creating hazardous conditions for swimmers and surfers.

Hurricane Bud's probable path off Mexico's Pacific coast is displayed in this graphic from the National Weather Service.
