Grandmom arrested after allegedly driving with kids in dog kennels

The bystander, who asked to remain anonymous, sent the video to Memphis Police. They say she's a woman of faith and a very nice lady.

The video drew outrage online.

A citizen recorded cell phone video that shows Memphis grandmother Leimome Cheeks opening the trunk of her Ford Explorer and letting a child out of dog kennel.

Cheeks, 62 has been charged with two counts of child endangerment.

She allegedly told police that she would check on the children periodically and "later removed them from the kennel and put them in the rear seats of her vehicle", the affidavit read.

Trump considering 3,000 pardons, including boxer Muhammad Ali
Last week, Trump told reporters he was considering pardoning Martha Stewart and commuting the sentence of former Illinois Gov. His decision resulted in a draft-evasion conviction, and he was stripped of his heavyweight boxing crown in 1967.

She was arrested on two counts of child endangerment and was later released on bond.

"It's shocking, it really is". Neighbors are shocked. They say Leimome Cheeks is a very nice woman and they can't believe she did something like this. "I couldn't see her actually doing that", said neighbor Skylarr Blake. I only met her like once maybe twice. "For them to be in the hot vehicle like that in cages is sad", one neighbour said.

"I mean it could be an honest mistake".

Cheeks told police that she traveled with the children in the kennel from Collierville to Whitehaven because there was no room for them in the auto, Cleveland 19 News reports. WATN said it attempted to contact Cheeks at her home over the weekend, but no one answered the door.

Children's Services and Memphis Police are investigating. Their grandmother is scheduled to be in court Monday morning at 9 a.m.
