Trump exits G7 with trade warning: Retaliatory tariffs would be 'mistake'

Donald Trump at G7 summit

President Trump said retaliation tariffs from his allies were a "mistake" and warned that if it got as far as a trade war, then the USA would "win that war a thousand times out of a thousand". Moscow has denied the allegations.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is now in Beijing, where he was presented with a friendship medal by Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping.

Trump pulled out of President Barack Obama's landmark nuclear accord with Iran over the objections of European allies.

Trump said Friday that Russian Federation should be a part of the talks - a move that was likely to find little agreement among the group.

"Maybe the American president doesn't care about being isolated today, but we don't mind being six, if needs be", Macron said.

"You know, whether you like it or not, and it may not be politically correct, but we have a world to run".

Trump will now begin his almost 20-hour journey to Singapore where he is expected to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un on June 12, a tête-à-tête created to encourage the rogue state to end its nuclear program.

In May, Trump hit Canada, Mexico and the European Union with steel and aluminum tariffs as part of an effort to create "FAIR TRADE" agreements with America's partners. "And I think on trade, there is a critical path, there is a way to progress altogether", he said, speaking in English. The U.S. president delivered a rambling statement before taking questions from journalists.

The announcements come as Mr. Trump seeks to make headway on the deep USA trade deficit, saying the country has been taken advantage of for too long, and he is fighting back.

Trump left before the end of the summit on Saturday.

Will he continue his incredible goalscoring form in Russian Federation this summer? Their playing style is close to that of Tunisia. Mo Salah (L) and Eden Hazard (R).

He said he "came up with the term fake news" because much of the United States press "is very dishonest".

Donald Trump suffered a cringe-worthy moment when he greeted the U.S. ambassador to Canada with an incredibly awkward kiss.

Mr. Trump said he stood up his G7 allies who were angry over USA steel and aluminum tariffs imposed against Canada, Europe and Mexico.

"They understand that. They know it".

European leaders met separately Friday ahead of the G7 summit in La Malbaie, a golf resort north of Quebec City, and presented Trump with a united front "backed by facts and figures" to counter his charge, officials said.

For the second time in two days, President Trump called for Russian Federation to be let back into the G-7.

Trump's administration last week ended a two-month exemption to steel and aluminum imports from Mexico, Canada and the European Union.

Trump is telling reporters that he told world leaders that the US will take whatever steps necessary to prevent unfair foreign trade practices.

On Saturday, while diplomats wrangled in private, summit host Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gathered the other leaders for a breakfast session on women's equality.

President Donald Trump said Saturday at the Group of Seven summit in Quebec, Canada, that the United States would "stop trading" with some of its closest allies unless they change what he believes to be unfair trade policies.
