Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain found dead at age 61

US chef Anthony Bourdain has died, aged 61

A storyteller. A gifted writer.

"Low plastic stool, cheap but delicious noodles, cold Hanoi beer". "He will always remind us how food is what makes us different yet it is what brings us together". Bourdain became a father late in life and spoke frequently about his motivation to live for his 11-year-old daughter.

But on Thursday night, when Mr. Bourdain didn't show up for dinner, he said: "Mr. Ripert thought it was odd".

Others noted Bourdain's strong defense of the #MeToo movement. His girlfriend, actress Asia Argento, released a statement asking for privacy.

Remembrances for Bourdain poured in across social media.

.

"I stand unhesitatingly and unwaveringly with the women", he wrote.

"Anthony gave all of himself in everything that he did", Argento wrote. "He was my love, my rock, my protector", she said on Twitter.

Meanwhile, business analyst Darren Rovell tweeted, "Devastated to learn of Anthony Bourdain, whom I admired from afar".

She added: "My thoughts are with his family". She also said at the 2018 Cannes festival in France that it had been Weinstein's "hunting ground".

"I've spent such a lot of time in the developing world, I was caught in a war in Beirut, been in Liberia, the Congo, Iraq and Libya and realised how fast things can get bad, how arbitrary good fortune and cruelty and death", he said in the interview.

Suicide is a growing problem in the United States. "Please call a hotline". Bourdain's death is the second high profile suicide this week, following beloved American fashion designer Kate Spade on Tuesday.

Spanish-American chef Jose Andres said: "You still had so many places to show us, whispering to our souls the great possibilities beyond what we could see with our own eyes".

Google Will Continue Defense Work, But Not on ‘Technologies That Cause Harm’
Weapons or other technologies whose principal goal or implementation is to cause or directly facilitate injury to people. The company said on Thursday that if the principles had existed earlier, Google would not have bid for Project Maven.

"I think there were parts of Seattle that he really identified with", Cook said.

In 2013 he moved to CNN where he worked up until his death - the show is now on its eleventh series.

Bourdain was reluctant to analyze why his series succeeded.

"He was quite a character", President Donald Trump said, describing his death as "very sad" and "very shocking". "You go out there and show the best story you can as best you can".

Bourdain was Jewish. His mother Gladys (née Sacksman) was an editor at The New York Times. "He loved Vietnamese food", Nga said.

However, he was known to struggle with drug addiction and had a history of heroin use.

The book set him on a path to global stardom.

Responding to a photo of this installation, Bourdain had remarked: "Not sure how I feel about this".

Focusing on what he called "the most contentious piece of real estate in the world", Bourdain used the episode to reveal his own Jewish heritage: "I've never been in a synagogue".

And to chefs in New Zealand the man was "inspirational".

Anthony Bourdain was a beloved TV personality, author and chef.
