Former Cambridge Analytica chief tells MPs he is a victim

Ex-Cambridge Analytica boss admits getting Facebook data from researcher

This information he revealed also showed how political campaigns like Vote Leave in the United Kingdom spent huge sums of money with the Canadian data firm AggregateIQ to influence vote outcomes.

"In response to earlier notices about breaches of personal data relating to the Cambridge Analytica episode, Facebook had apologised and given strong assurances to the government of India that they would take honest efforts to protect the privacy of users' data on the platform", it said.

Former chief Alexander Nix, in earlier testimony to parliament's media committee, also denied the political consultancy had ever been given data by Aleksandr Kogan, the researcher linked to the scandal.

The sting operation was filmed by Channel 4 television in March, causing the committee to recall Nix for the inconsistencies in his testimony. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had to testify before the US Congress and apologize to users for giving Cambridge Analytica access to the personal data of tens of millions of users without their consent.

On Wednesday, Nix reversed his statement saying- "Of course, the answer to this question should have been 'yes, '" adding that he thought he was being asked if Cambridge Analytica still held data from the researcher.

The committee is investigating fake news, and focusing on the role of Cambridge Analytica and Facebook in the 2016 Brexit vote as well as the Trump election. As Christopher Wylie says in the above video, "Cambridge Analytica is the beginning, it's not the end".

England vs. Costa Rica - Football Match Report
England have conceded just twice in their last seven games and haven't let one in during the opening 45 minutes in that run. A sold out Elland Road was treated to its first England global since 2002 - and boy did the locals enjoy it.

Nix also said that Channel 4 had heavily edited the footage to portray him in a worse light. "All Mr Nix's comments carried in our reports were used in context, including any caveats", the broadcaster said in a statement.

Wrapping up the session, the chair of the committee, Damian Collins, told Nix: "A lot of the allegations against you have come from people who worked with you - not just Mr Wylie, but others too".

"But you can't simply put forward your prejudices onto me and make sweeping assumptions about our involvement with a political campaign simply because that is what you want to believe..."

"It is deeply troubling that this conspiracy theory has spread so widely, and caused such damage to our company", he said.

Some of the Cambridge Analityca shareholders told the Financial Times newspaperon Wednesday, that the firm's head Alexander Nix allegedly withdrew $8.2 million right after the first publications about the misue of user data.
