Woman escapes abusive boyfriend by slipping note to dog's vet

Jeremy Floyd 39 was arrested by DeLand Florida police after he allegedly held his girlfriend captive in her home

According to the arrest affidavit, the worker inside the animal hospital quickly got the message and called DeLand Police They came in, arrested the suspect and held him for deputies.

The woman says the man repeatedly beat and threatened her. "Please don't let him know".

The victim, Caroline Reichle, later told investigators she persuaded her boyfriend, Jeremy Floyd, to bring their dog to the clinic as a way to escape his physical abuse.

The woman had convinced Floyd to let her take their dog to the Deland Animal Hospital (pictured).

A woman escaped Friday from her violent, gun-wielding boyfriend, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office. Two shots were fired during a struggle over the gun - both of which passed through a wall without injuring anybody.

The woman reportedly went to sleep for 22 hours due to head trauma.

He was armed with his handgun, and the victim said Floyd threatened to kill her and her family, deputies said.

Sheriff's spokeswoman Laura Williams identified the man as Jeremy Floyd, 39.

Authorities say after arriving to the hospital, the victim was able to slip the veterinary staff a note that read, "Call the cops".

Floyd's been arrested more than a dozen times, going back to 2003.

Floyd allegedly wouldn't let the woman leave their home in Deland, Florida for two days straight.

He is being held at Volusia County Branch Jail without bail.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said Floyd is a convicted felon. Authorities also discovered two bullet holes inside the couple's home.

The woman was taken to the hospital and treated for a head wound, a black eye, bruises on her arms and legs, and scratches on her hands and fingers, the News-Journal reported.
