Sleep in this weekend

Scientists Say You Should Sleep in Past Noon on the Weekends

Looking forward to a lie-in this weekend? Time to start pressing the snooze button!

Lack of enough sleep can lead to serious health problems.

Sleeping in on weekends might make up for the negative health effects of not getting enough rest during the week, according to study results published this week in the Journal of Sleep Research.

Researchers took various factors into account which affect mortality, such as gender, education, body mass index, severe disease, use of hypnotics (like sleeping pills, ) plus things like smoking, alcohol intake, physical activity, coffee intake and employment status. The study also demonstrates that sleeping too much or too little heightens our risk of death; if people sleep less than 5 hours or if they sleep over 9 hours per night then they're at a higher risk of death than people who sleep between 6 to 7 hours per night.

The team pointed out that they only assessed individuals aged 65 or under, not bearing the sleeping habits and mortality rates of those older in mind.

Florentino Perez's resistance has offended Ronaldo, who has implied several times all is not well in their relationship. Mohamed Salah's misfortune represented a key moment in Saturday's Champions League final, Georginio Wijnaldum feels.

Those who enjoyed eight hours of sleep during the week and weekend were found to have a lower mortality rate meaning they lived longer. "If you can function on what you get, you are likely getting the right amount of sleep", Åkerstedt noted.

The study wasn't ideal and had limitations, including study subjects not being observed directly and self-reporting their sleep habits.

The conclusion of the study was somewhat vague.

"The mortality rate among participants with short sleep during weekdays, but long sleep during weekends, did not differ from the rate of the reference group", a section of the research read.

See you at noon tomorrow!
