Surgeon General Attends To Medical Emergency On Delta Flight

Surgeon General Jerome Adams saves the day when airline passenger suffers medical emergency

U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams answered the call of duty Wednesday when a medical emergency broke out on a Delta flight bound for Jackson Mississippi. Lauderdale, Florida to Jackson, Mississippi via Atlanta when a passenger lost consciousness on the tarmac prior to takeoff, a department of Health and Human Services spokesperson told 11Alive.

Surgeon General Jerome Adams responded to a medical emergency while on board a flight going to Mississippi. How about the surgeon general of the United States? "Medical assistance was provided by the U.S. Surgeon General who worked with our flight crew to aid the customer".

Flight staff called for help, and Adams, along with two nurses, stepped in to help evaluate the passenger.

The patient woke up, and Adams determined it was best for the plane to return to the gate and for the patient to go to a hospital for further evaluation.

"Hello, Wow! We certainly thank you for volunteering as well as your service".

It is not clear at this time what the medical emergency was, but Delta released a statement which said Adams helped when hearing a passenger needed medical attention. He or she oversees the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, more than 6,600 uniformed public health-care personnel who work in various parts of the federal government. Adams, who has served as surgeon general since September 2017, tweeted that he was "glad to be able to assist".
