NBA announces finalists for season awards

Harden, who led the league in scoring, has twice been a runner-up for the award, including past year when Russell Westbrook won.

He's joined by Cleveland's LeBron James and New Orleans' Anthony Davis as finalists for the top individual plum, the league announced Wednesday, May 16.

Wednesday night before tip-off of game two of the Western Conference Finals, the National Basketball Association announced the three finalists for the league's highest individual honor.

The 76ers lost the series 4-1 to Boston but the 21-year-old guard had already cemented himself as a contender for the award during the regular season with a per game average of 15.8 points, 8.2 assists and 8.1 rebounds. Harden and James are now playing in their conference finals.

The awards will be voted by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada, while fans will get to vote for several awards as well.
