Kami Rita summits Everest for record 22nd time

On Wednesday, a pair of veteran Sherpas each set a record for Mount Everest climbs.

Ang Kami Sherpa's 22nd ascent to the summit created a new record for the most visits to the peak of Everest, Reuters reported.

Kami Rita first scaled Everest at age 24, and has made the trip nearly every year since then.

West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor presented a proclamation to resident Lhakpa Sherpa on March 27, declaring her "Queen of the Mountain", just weeks before Sherpa left town to begin a record-breaking journey, her ninth summit of Mount Everest.

He and his team started climbing last night from South Col (Nepal Side) and reached the summit at around 8:30 am today, according to Pemba Sherpa of Seven Summit Treks, which organised the record expedition.

Climbing from the Chinese side of the mountain, Sherpa's trip the summit extended her own women's record.

Apple demands United States dollars 1 billion from Samsung for patent infringement
Lee showed the jury a series of Samsung phones released before, shortly after and years after the iPhone's debut in 2007. It argued that consumers had not bought the phones for their aesthetics alone, but also their functionality.

Mingma Gelu Sherpa, Managing Director at Seven Summit Adventure told THT from the base camp that Lhakpa along with a team led by Alex Abramov made it to the summit at around 5:40 am.

Ethnic sherpas, renowned for their endurance and experience at high altitudes, serve as guides for many foreign mountaineers attempting to climb the highest Himalayan peaks. Most of his male relatives have reached the top at least once. He first climbed Mt. Everest in 1994. The next most accomplished female Everest climber is American Melissa Sue Arnot, who has reached the top six times.

The daughter of a yak herder, Lhakpa worked as a porter and kitchen hand on trekking and mountaineering expeditions, before becoming a climber herself.

Around 100 people have reached the summit of Everest this week as the busy spring climbing season - which runs from April to May - got into full swing. The rapid growth in the climbing industry has accompanied complaints of overcrowding and fears that inexperienced mountaineers are putting themselves and their guides at risk.

"Multiple teams using the same device have experienced similar oxygen system failures". Air at the top of Everest contains less than a third of the oxygen at sea level.
