Instagram to warn users if they spend too much time on the app

By showing users how much time they spend on Instagram, the social networking service might risk prompting people to spend less time on the app.

Instagram is working on a new feature which will show you just how much time you're spending using the app.

The coding was first discovered by Jane Manchun Wong, a computer scientist, but was later confirmed by Instagram CEO Kevin Systrom. Systrom tweeted the feature with the caption, "It's true". He also noted that time spent online impact people and that his company wants to be honest with the users.

"It's not exactly clear whether that will be your total time spent in Instagram ever, which could be a pretty scary number to some users, or within some shorter time frame like a day, week, or month".

Meghan Markle's Sister Hospitalized With Ankle Injury
Samantha , who revealed she had bought a wedding gift despite not being invited, said her relationship with Meghan was "strained". She recently detailed her plans for a tell-all book about Markle potentially titled " The Diary of Princess Pushy's Sister ".

It remains to be seen when Instagram will officially roll out the new tool to users in general.

With a feature that alerts users who spend too long on the app, Instagram risks seeing a decline in usage and ad interaction. Instagram is not alone here. A 2017 study released by analytics firm Flurry showed the average U.S. user spends five hours a day on their device, a 20 percent year-over-year increase.

It is hard to judge whether these technology companies are really concerned about the well being of their consumers or is it a mere attempt to address the concern among their core users.
