Eleven Teams Honored by NCAA for APR Achievement

Eight Rutgers teams were recognized by the NCAA for their APR scores

Georgia Tech matched a school record with five programs earning NCAA Public Recognition Awards for multiyear Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores that rank among the top 10 percent nationally in their respective sports, the NCAA announced on Wednesday.

Women's Tennis became the seventh Razorback program to earn distinction from the NCAA as part of the APR Public Recognition Awards.

The University of CT men's basketball, women's cross country, field hockey, men's golf, men's hockey, men's tennis and women's tennis teams were honored on Wednesday with NCAA Public Recognition Awards for outstanding academic performance.

Women's basketball picked up the recognition for the 13th straight year and the program is just one of 85 teams from all sports that have earned the recognition in every year of program. Women's golf has earned the award each of its first four seasons of existence.

"For the second-straight year, we have a school record eight programs receive public recognition from the NCAA and we are incredibly proud of the that accomplishment".

Colorado State had seven programs recognized by the NCAA for academic performance on Wednesday, highlighted by the women's swimming and diving team.

The other Duke programs recognized were men's and women's fencing, men's and women's soccer, field hockey, men's golf, women's lacrosse, women's cross country, women's tennis and volleyball. The APR accounts for academic eligibility, retention and graduation at an institution and provides a clear picture of the academic culture in each sport. The most recent multiyear rates are based on the 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16 and 2016-17 academic years.

Specific scores for all teams will be released May 23.

Women's tennis leads all Nittany Lion squads with 12 NCAA Public Recognition Awards.

2016-1. Stanford 17; 2.

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each student-athlete on scholarship. The Nittany Lions have won 107 Big Ten championships or tournament titles since capturing their first crown in 1992-93, including conference titles in women's soccer, women's volleyball and wrestling in 2017-18.
