During the talks, they exchanged views on the future of the Iran nuclear deal following the withdrawal of the U.S. from the 2015 agreement.

Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Monday that he would be seeking assurances from countries that signed the Iran nuclear deal during his diplomatic tour of Beijing, Moscow and Brussels.

White House national security adviser John Bolton said Sunday that "it's possible" there will be secondary sanctions imposed on European companies as a result of the USA withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal. German Chancellor Angela Merkel said possibilities to save the deal without Washington needed to be discussed with Tehran, while France's Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said EU states would propose sanctions- blocking measures to the European Commission. Also, the economic sanctions by the USA will resume after the grace period of between 90 days and 180 days.

"They agreed on the need for calm on all sides and on the importance of tackling Iran's destabilising activity in the region", the spokesman said.

Russian Federation is trying to keep the landmark 2015 accord alive in the wake of US President Donald Trump's decision, pushing Moscow into rare cooperation with Europe.

Iran's state-run media is mocking Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's latest allegations that Tehran once pursued nuclear weapons.

"The repeated attacks by the Zionist regime on Syrian territory were carried out under pretexts that were invented", he added.

US National Security Adviser John Bolton took a more hardline approach, reminding European firms that they could be punished for not adhering to US sanctions.

At the same time, the government said it has tasked the president of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran with "taking all necessary steps in preparation for Iran to pursue industrial-scale enrichment without any restrictions, using the results of the latest research and development of Iran's courageous nuclear scientists".

"I want to stress that that does not mean we are in any sense not going to be working with the Americans", Johnson said, adding: "it's vital that we continue to engage with the United States of America and continue to interrogate our friends in Washington about how they see the nuclear deal developing".

The U.S. already pulled out of the pact of the major global powers with Iran and promised tough economic sanctions that could hurt companies in the European Union as well. "Our goal should be regime change in Iran."In 2015, Bolton wrote an op-ed in the New York Times calling for air strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities". "Do we accept that the United States is the economic gendarme of the planet?"

The French finance minister said he pushed US Treasury Secretary Mnuchin this week for three things: exemptions for French companies operating in Iran; or the application of a so-called grandfather clause for deals struck in Iran since 2015; or an extension of the 90-day period to wind down operations in Iran.

"We think that the fight against nuclear non-proliferation is important and this agreement means that nuclear non-proliferation is possible because Iran will not go all the way to build nuclear weapons".

Meanwhile, the US government tried to further pinch Iran's finances by disrupting a currency exchange network allegedly used to transfer millions of dollars to Iran's Revolutionary Guard.

"We are stakeholders in the Vienna agreement and we are going to stay stakeholders".
