HTC Announces New Smartphone Powered by Blockchain Technology

HTC is creating an Android phone that's powered by blockchain

HTC has discovered the buzzword of the year, and decided to make a smartphone around it with their upcoming Exodus handset announcement during the Consensus 2018 blockchain conference in NY, where we recently saw a crypto-powered beer vending machine unveiled. It's new blockchain-powered smartphone could signal a shift in the division's commercialisation strategy.

Previously, Chen was heading up HTC's Virtual Reality headset project. Exodus will support not only cryptocurrencies but also decentralised applications.

Details, including price, are now scant.

The phone, revealed by The Next Web, is called Exodus.

"Through Exodus, we are excited to be supporting underlying protocols such as Bitcoin, Lightning Networks, Ethereum, Dfinity, and more", Chen said on the integration of blockchain applications with the phone's hardware.

Lightning lead Capitals 4-1 in 3rd
So far, the Stamkos we're seeing tonight - rather than the one of the previous two games - appears to be who he really is. He took a feed from Hedman, converting for his 10th career postseason power-play goal-a franchise record.

In other words, the Exodus device will act as a way for users to connect to a decentralized network, as well as an actual storage option for users to "carry" their cryptocurrencies.

HTC has been struggling in the smartphone space and it is hard to imagine the justification of it launching a Block-chain powered phone. Chen, who now holds the title of "chief decentralized officer", will head all of the firm's cryptocurrency and blockchain-related initiatives.

According to Chen, "We would like to support the entire blockchain ecosystem, and in the next few months we'll be announcing many more exciting partnerships together". Mobile apps of cryptocurrency exchanges are driving phone makers to adopt blockchain.

In terms of specifications, the Finney blockchain phone comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor.

While there's no price set for the device quite yet, HTC announced that it might even accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment. Among other features, they'd allow users on a network to trade crypto without any additional fees.
