Democrats Mark Warner, Heidi Heitkamp to back Gina Haspel

Home Crime Psychopath Dick Cheney Says US Should Restart Torture Programs By Farron Cousins

Gina Haspel, U.S. President Donald Trump's pick to be the next CIA director, said the agency should not have conducted a harsh interrogation and detention program, according to her letter to a Democratic senator.

Warner told reporters before he announced his vote that the letter "better reflected" what Haspel has said in private conversations.

"Gina Haspel failed that test", said Krulak, who organized a letter signed by more than 100 retired generals and admirals expressing concern over her nomination. Not to mention, Mark Warner and the rest of Senate Democrats were provided an infinite amount of cover on this by another torture victim, Republican Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., both offered support to Haspel on Tuesday afternoon.

Her nomination has been deeply controversial because she once ran a secret prison in Thailand where detainees were waterboarded after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. As you know, Senators Feinstein, Wyden, and Heinrich have joined Senator Warner in calling the level of declassification on Ms. Haspel's record "unacceptable". Joe Donnelly, D-Ind., had announced they would back Haspel. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., said Tuesday that they would vote for her.

Jones suggested that confirming Haspel would send the wrong message to the world. Rand Paul of Kentucky has announced his opposition. The report summary was made available to the Senate Intelligence Committee members, but not the full Senate. Richard Burr, a Republican, the panel's chairman, Led the confirmation hearing for Haspel earlier this month.

Neuer Makes A Surprise Return In Low's Provisional List
Germany have reached at least the semifinals of all five tournaments they've competed at since. Die Mannschaft's final warm-up games are against Austria on June 3 and Saudi Arabia on June 8.

Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain is urging his colleagues to reject Haspel's nomination.

Haspel's nominee has sparked a fresh debate over brutal interrogation practices. And former vice-president Dick Cheney, who was integral to the post-Sept.

Last week he said on the Senate floor, "I think we have a career intelligence officer that has done a commendable - over three decades - commendable service to this country".

Ms. Haspel appearance last week before the committee emboldened her critics - who blasted her for not being more forceful in denouncing torture, especially concerning her work overseeing a Central Intelligence Agency secret prison in Thailand in 2002 where interrogations, including waterboarding, were conducted and videotaped. Flake said he has spoken to McCain, who was tortured as a prisoner of war in Vietnam, about the nomination last week, and is still weighing Haspel's nomination. Her specific role in the program remains classified. "Her refusal to acknowledge torture's immorality is disqualifying".

"Ms. Haspel's involvement in torture is deeply troubling", Heitkamp said in a statement. Senators also want more information about her role destroying videos of the sessions.
