Facebook has suspended 200 apps as it investigates misuse of data

Techcrunch also reports it's unclear what benchmark is used to define a "large amount of data", after receiving no answer from Facebook on the question.

However, Facebook says that this doesn't necessarily mean the apps did anything wrong.

Now, the firm's VP of Product Partnerships, Ime Archibong, has posted an update on the situation claiming that the investigation "is in full swing". As of Monday, Facebook had looked into thousands of apps and suspended 200, "pending a thorough investigation into whether they did in fact misuse any data".

Facebook had separated its investigation process into two phases: first, a comprehensive review of apps that had access to large amounts of user data, and then, interviews with the organizations behind the identified apps to determine what data it accessed and possible audits of the company connected to the app.

Marvel's plans to introduce the first Muslim superhero in a future film
When news of Ms Marvel's debut spread like wild fire, fans were quick to share their two cents on the flawless actor for the role. During an interview with the BBC , he revealed that the teen icon, Kamala Khan , is 'definitely, sort of, in the works '.

Archibong said that the investigation was likely to run for some time.

Facebook made a policy change in 2014 limiting access to user data but noted that some applications still had data it had obtained prior to the revision.

In recent months, many have wondered how many more companies like Cambridge Analytica have collected private information on Facebook users without their consent.

However, the social network is facing continued questions from lawmakers in the United Kingdom and U.S., and Mr Zuckerberg has been threatened with a formal summons to appear before a parliamentary inquiry into fake news after a recent testimony by chief technology officer Mike Schroepfer was labelled "unsatisfactory" after he failed to answer a number of questions from MPs.
