Young girl jumps out of moving vehicle to escape carjacking

An 11-year-old girl jumps from moving car as it's being carjacked

Surveillance video shows an 11-year-old girl jumping out of a carjacked SUV in suburban Chicago as her father tries to stop a vehicle driven by the carjacker's accomplice.

The video, made public Tuesday, shows a rear door of the Jeep open as the SUV begins to move, and the girl jump out and fall onto the ground.

Kayla Beasanski was in the backseat of her father's vehicle at a Chicago-area gas station where he was pumping gas when the incident took place, according to WGN-TV. He left his 11-year-old-daughter, Kayla, in the unlocked vehicle for merely a few minutes when suddenly, a man jumped in and attempted to drive off with the Jeep.

In the video, the girl can be seen jumping from the auto as Pulley took a sharp turn from a gas pump and took off, as did the Charger next to it. Police said they continue searching for the accomplice.

A few seconds later, the girl runs to the sidewalk before walking to her father who appears on the frame and hugs her before walking towards the gas station pumps.

The daughter and father can be seen embracing each other after the girl gets up from the pavement.

Her father leaps onto the hood of the accomplice's auto as both vehicles speed away.

While Aurora Police search for the accomplice of that carjacking, they pass along this advice -these days you can't leave the vehicle running while you get out to pump gas!

Police have said Pulley got out of a blue Dodge Charger that had pulled up next to the Jeep, and both vehicles drove off. Illinois State Police spotted the Cherokee near Interstate 88, and chased it heading east, according to Aurora police.

The suspect was eventually caught and has been identified as 20-year-old Tyrelle L Pulley from Chicago.

The chase ended in a crash near First Avenue, where Pulley was arrested, according to police.

No one was injured in the crash.
