EBOLA: Super Eagles friendly with DR Congo may be called off

Isaac Adewale, said after the FEC meeting that the measure would keep Nigerians safe from Ebola outbreak, which is now in Congo.

The Congo and World Health Organisation (WHO) have hit the outbreak of Ebola with quick response to contain the deadly disease. The outbreak declaration occurred after laboratory results confirmed two cases of Ebola. In a vaccination trial during the West African Ebola virus epidemic, only 49 per cent of individuals who had been in contact with Ebola virus patients could be vaccinated.

The Nigerian Centre for Disease Control announced it may also send a team to the DNC to help fight the outbreak.

Health minister Isaac Adewole said: "We will be screening incoming passengers, particularly passengers from DRC and neighbouring countries. (The) Nigerian Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) will also consider sending some teams to DRC as part of building capacity for managing the outbreak", he added.

There is now no vaccine to prevent Ebola or a confirmed treatment for it.

Following the outbreak of Ebola in DR Congo, there is a high possibility that the worldwide friendly match between the central African nation and the Super Eagles of Nigeria will be called off.

But that has not stopped Nigerian authorities taking no chances with the threat of Ebloa.

Kerala DHSE class 12th results today
Kannur district has the highest pass percentage of 86.75 while Pathanamthitta records the lowest percentage at 77.16 percent. Kerala DHSE successfully conducted the examination from March 7 to March 28, 2018 across the state.

The Ebola virus is highly infectious and very deadly.

Many victims bleed internally and externally before death if the symptoms aren't treated immediately.

This is the ninth time Ebola has been recorded in Congo and comes less than a year after the last outbreak killed four people.

There are two confirmed Ebola cases and 17 deaths that are suspected to have been caused by the virus, according to the heath ministry.

Emergency teams have already been dispatched by WHO, Médecins Sans Frontières and Provincial Division of Health.

WHO said Tuesday it is working closely with Congo's government to rapidly scale up its operations and mobilize health partners as it did successfully in Congo previous year.

"I think with this rapid response we will be able to contain it", World Health Organization emergencies director for Africa, Ibrahima Soce Fall, told the Media on Wednesday.
