Greens want to legalise cannabis for adult use

The Greens have launched a new push to legalise cannabis. The conservative Liberal Party federal government attacked The Greens' policy.

"It drives people away from getting help when they need it and exposes them to a unsafe black market", Senator Di Natale said.

'Marijuana's a gateway drug. "The risk of graduating to ice or to heroin from extended marijuana use is real and documented", Hunt told reporters. "We do not believe it is safe, responsible or something which should be allowed".

Asked why the government wouldn't want the tax revenue, Mr Hunt said it didn't want to put the mental health of Australians at risk.

Banning cannabis hasn't reduced its use or availability, yet it has distracted police from following up more serious crimes, harmed a lot of young people and helped make some criminals rich.
"It's time Australia joined them and legalised cannabis for adult use", he said.

The Greens' plan would redefine cannabis as a legal substance in a regulated market and will redirect resources into treatment.

The plan will establish an Australian Cannabis Agency to issue licenses for production and sale of cannabis, monitor and enforce license conditions and review and monitor the regulatory scheme to ensure it is functioning properly.

It is negative, as 18 investors sold BRO shares while 91 reduced holdings. 74 funds opened positions while 178 raised stakes. The biopharmaceutical company reported $1.87 EPS for the quarter, beating the Zacks' consensus estimate of $1.78 by $0.09.

It would also act as the single wholesaler for cannabis - purchasing cannabis from producers and selling it in plain packaging to retail stores.

The Greens leader yesterday announced the party's plan to legalise cannabis for adult use.

The Greens leader, a former drug and alcohol doctor, said Australia's tough approach to drugs had caused enormous harm.

The party wants marijuana to be available for recreational use for anyone over the age of 18.

Western Australia's state Labor government was the first to rule out decriminalising or legalising cannabis on Tuesday.

"Polls have consistently shown that Australians would like to see cannabis taxed and regulated".

All over the world, more and more drug-aware citizens are subscribing to the belief that marijuana use should be treated as a public health issue, rather than a criminal issue. The Australian Greens have promised this bill will be in parliament by the end of 2018.
