USA to announce more sanctions against Russian Federation

Russian Federation said a visit on Monday by chemical weapons inspectors to the site of a suspected gas attack in Syria's Douma had been delayed as a result of Western air strikes, RIA news agency reported.

A joint United Nations-OPCW mission concluded that troops under Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had used chemical weapons several times in recent years, including in a sarin attack a year ago in the town of Khan Sheikhoun that killed almost 100 people. She said Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin "will be announcing those on Monday, if he hasn't already".

She previously stated that Russian Federation allows the Assad government's use of chemical weapons.

The British delegation to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons said Russian Federation and Syria had not yet allowed access.

Trump tweeted "Mission Accomplished" on Saturday after U.S., French and British warplanes and ships launched more than 100 missiles almost unopposed by Syrian air defenses.

Doctors at the hospital where suspected victims were treated told reporters on the tour that none of the patients that night had suffered chemical weapons injuries - they were asphyxiated by dust and smoke in a bombardment.

His choice of words recalled a similar claim associated with President George W. Bush following the US -led invasion of Iraq. We think this area needs more voices, reasoned analysis and ideas than just those provided by News Corp, lifestyle mags, Facebook groups and corporate newsletters.

Later Sunday, Trump sent a letter to congressional leaders informing them in writing of his decision to order the strike.

Haley made clear the United States won't be pulling troops out of Syria right away, saying USA involvement there 'is not done'. Mr Borodin planned to leave Yekaterinburg in May to move to either Kurgan, where he had been offered a job as editor of a local media outlet, or Moscow, where his fiancee was working, she said.

"We are evaluating but nothing to announce right now", she said.

French president Emmanuel Macron claimed on Sunday that his country convinced Donald Trump to keep an American presence in Syria.

Britain's Ambassador Peter Wilson said at a news conference in The Hague that the United Nations had cleared the inspectors to go but they had been unable to reach Douma because Syria and Russian Federation had been unable to guarantee their safety.

"Ten days ago president Trump wanted the United States of America to withdraw from Syria".

"I assure you, we have convinced him that it is necessary to stay for the long-term", Mr Macron said.

However, the White House said Mr Trump still wants U.S. forces to withdraw from the region as soon as possible.

Mrs May accused Russian Federation and Syria of attempting to cover up the attack.

The Pentagon said it gave no explicit warning.

The comments came during a closed-door meeting at the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, convened after an April 7 attack in the town of Douma, outside the Syrian capital, in which dozens of people were allegedly killed with poison gas. Washington has said it has conclusive evidence the attack used chlorine gas, and suspects sarin nerve agent was also used although this was not confirmed.

Global inspectors are trying to reach the site in Douma, near Damascus.

Britain has said there are no plans for future strikes against Syria, but Johnson warned Assad that all options would be considered if chemical weapons were used against Syrians again. In a US military action a year ago in response to a sarin gas attack, missiles took out almost 20 percent of the Syrian air force, the Pentagon said.
