Tigers' Sunday doubleheader with Yankees postponed; rescheduled for June 4

The first game of Sunday's doubleheader between the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers has been postponed.

The Yankees beat the Tigers 8-6 on Friday in the first game of their three-game series. Opening Day on March 29 was postponed until March 30.The team's second game of the season on March 31 was postponed until April 1, when the Tigers and Pirates played a split doubleheader. All tickets from Saturday's contest that was rained out will be valid on Sunday night, while tickets from Sunday's cancellation can be used on the to-be-determined make-up date. Both games will be televised on FOX Sports Detroit.

The teams had originally moved Saturday's rained-out contest to Sunday night as part of a split doubleheader, but rain has continued to hit the Detroit area.

The team donated $1,000 from the auction to the families of the young people killed in the bus crash . "It's just part of hockey". Ethan, a leukemia patient, proudly displays his Maple Leafs jersey as he and his mother visited Regional Hospital's Met Campus.

The multiple rainouts this weekend have also altered the Tigers' rotation for that upcoming series vs. Baltimore. Luis Severino was expected to toe the rubber for the Yankees against Francisco Liriano and the Tigers this afternoon. The team has essentially opted to bump everyone back and maintain the order.

It's fair to suggest that the seemingly never-ending cold-weather playing situations for the Tigers to start the season has led to their offensive woes early on, to some degree (pun intended).
