US destroyer launching cruise missile at Syria

New U.S. sanctions against Russian Federation are coming as soon as Monday to punish the country for its support of the Syrian regime, Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said Sunday. Angus King (I-Maine) said on CNN's "State of the Union" with Jake Tapper. "The fact he was making this more normal and that Russian Federation was covering this up, all that has got to stop". He claimed his use of the term was intentional and that he knew the "Fake News Media" would seize on his use of it.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley on Sunday defended President Trump's declaration of "mission accomplished" in the Syria missile strikes, saying the president was talking in military terms about a singular task, not about foreign policy, while reinforcing that the "United States' work in Syria is not done".

"When our president draws a red line, the president enforces the red line", she said, a clear rebuke of Mr. Trump's predecessor, Barack Obama, who in 2013 declined to retaliate against Syria after a chemical weapons attack even though he had called the use of such weapons "a red line".

"Major combat operations in Iraq have ended", Bush said, the infamous "Mission Accomplished" banner hovering over him. The Assad regime's propaganda machine is in overdrive, claiming victory after the attack threatened by USA president Donald Trump turned out to be less severe than anticipated.

The aim, she said, is "to see American troops come home, but we are not going to leave until we know we have accomplished those things".

USA ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley announced on Sunday that the U.S. will imminently impose a new rounds of sanctions on Russian Federation.

"While Russia was busy protecting the regime, Assad took notice", Ms. Haley said.

"The United States and its allies continue to demonstrate blatant disregard for worldwide law", he said. Russian Federation has vetoed at least six resolutions in the U.N. Security Council regarding chemical weapons.

She said that it is "entirely up to Assad" whether the missile attack on Syria was a one-time response to the suspected chemical attack by Syrian forces a week ago that killed more than 40 people or part of a continuing allied military effort. The U.S. says it suspects that sarin gas also was used.

The strikes "successfully hit every target", said Dana W. White, the chief Pentagon spokeswoman.

"The American movies have shown since the 1990s that Russian-made weapons are 'backward.' However, today we can see who is really lagging behind", Assad said, according to Sablin.

"If the previous attack was a slap on the wrist, this is perhaps a slap on the face but nothing that destabilizes the Assad regime in any fundamental way", said Ayham Kamel, head of Middle East and North Africa research at Eurasia Group.

The Syrian military said three civilians were wounded in one of the strikes in Homs. In fact, Gen. Joseph Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said no additional attacks were planned.

"A shame on humanity", said Hadi al Bahra, a member of the opposition Syrian Negotiating Commission.

Because of that he says the latest airstrikes in Damascus and Homs, which are farther south, did not affect them.

But when pressed, he acknowledged that some unspecified portion of Assad's chemical arms infrastructure was not targeted.

"We of course know our work in Syria is not done", U.S. ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said on "Fox News Sunday".
