Darkest hour: Ex-bureaucrats to PM Modi on rapes

Darkest hour: Ex-bureaucrats to PM Modi on rapes

A noisy face-off between pro and anti-India groups is on the cards near London's Parliament Square on April 18, when Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds bilateral meetings and addresses a diaspora event at Central Hall Westminster. The meetings of the Commonwealth Heads of Government usually take place every two years and serve to shape the organisation's agenda for the next two years. "It reflects the importance the UK attaches to the visit and shows the mature level of India-UK ties", said an official involved with the preparations for the visit.

"It will be a no-holds-barred interaction with Prime Minister Modi, in a manner and format never witnessed before", said Vijay Chauthaiwale, in charge of the BJP foreign affairs department. "This is shameful", Modi said after widespread outrage over the incidents in Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir and Unnao district in Uttar Pradesh.

CM Singh and Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, who were standing close to Modi, were also taken aback and joined the gathering in applauding him.

PM Modi will also visit the Science Museum to discuss India UK collaboration in the field of Science and technology.

During the visit he is expected to hold bilateral talks with Britain and heads of other Commonwealth countries.

Husband's tribute to wife found dead in Chichester
The woman also claimed that when she tried to free herself from the accused, he would assault her with a belt, police said. Pattamundai police has registered a case and started inquiry, Mr Moharana said.

He said it was Modi's love and affection for the state that he was leaving no stone unturned for the development of the state.

The event, billed as the centrepiece of the "Living Bridge" theme of the India-UK bilateral visit, will involve PM Modi addressing questions from across the world which have already been received via social media and some via live video link. They knew that their behaviour would be endorsed by the politically powerful and those who have made their careers by polarising Hindus and Muslims across a sectarian divide. "The government is committed to protect your rights", he said.

Leading the crowd into chants of Jai Bhim as early as the fifth minute of his 58-minute speech, PM Modi said, "Bastar aur Bijapur ke aasman mein Babasaheb ke naam ki goonj humein, aap sabhi ko dhanya kar rahi hai".

The latter will be on a smaller scale compared to the massive event at Wembley stadium, which was attended by around 60,000 during his last bilateral visit to the United Kingdom, but will involve a speech followed by a question-and-answer session, with questions taken both from the audience and via live link ups from across the world.
