Ant McPartlin pleads guilty to drink-drive charge

Former television presenter Ant McPartlin has been fined £86,000 (€99,500) and banned from driving for 20 months after admitting driving while having more than twice the legal alcohol limit in his system.

Inside the courtroom, he spoke only to confirm his name, age, address and nationality before pleading guilty to a single charge of drink-driving.

Inside the court, as she handed down her sentence, District Judge told McPartlin: "You were a man of good character...you have lost that good character". And for that I am truly sorry. Sky News has reported that works out at 4.5 of a day's pay.

McPartlin's Mini collided with two other cars during the incident. Another driver involved in the collision, who had his wife and child in the auto with him at the time, said that they could have died as a result of Mr McPartlin's "reckless driving".

Canadian alleged serial killer facing 8th murder charge
Idsinga said investigators confirmed his identity with the help of an "international agency" but wouldn't expand on that. Later that month, he was charged with the first-degree murder of Majeed Kayhan, Soroush Mahmudi, and Dean Lisowick.

McPartlin's barrister Liam Walker said of his client to the court: 'He is sorry, but not sorry because he is here. "I know the consequences [of the crash] could have been much worse".

During the hearing, the TV star pleaded guilty to causing the auto smash that involved three cars and being under the influence of alcohol.

The 42-year-old entertainer was charged last month (18 March) after being involved in a collision with two other cars while driving his Mini, in Richmond, south-west London.

He blew a breathalyser reading of 75mcg of alcohol per 100ml of breath - the legal limit is just 35 mcg. In it he accepted full responsibility and said that he is "ashamed and mortified" and that he intended the incident would be a turning point for him.
