Scattered severe weather this afternoon, evening

The Piedmont might have to deal with some patchy frost in rural locations with lows in the low to mid-30s early Tuesday morning.

Our Tuesday weather maker will bring some cloudy and cooler weather along with the chance for some light rain and snow showers. Highs this afternoon will climb into the low 80s under a sun-filled sky. Almost 470 flights were canceled before crews were able to open one runway shortly after 10 p.m., according to a spokesman.

Widespread wind gust between 30 and 40 miles per hour are occurring, even outside of thunderstorms this afternoon. A weak cold front moves in Wednesday, impacting temperatures very little.
